Anyone with prior criminal convictions. This includes current and past parole supervision, completed time-served, probation, etc. There is no limit on the number of prior convictions.
Although the Shelby County Office of Reentry is not a job placement agency, we provide services (through in-house and community partners) for job readiness skills and preparation. At any time while an individual is a participant at the Shelby County Office of Reentry, they will be considered for job opportunities, as they become available, based on skills, education, and work experience.
Although it is our goal to help our clients find employment, it is not guaranteed. We provide many job readiness resources that will help you become more competitive in your job search.
No. Our staff will work with each participant to help them determine which training best meets their personal need by creating a Success/Goal Plan.
If I’m currently awaiting a disposition on a pending charge, am I eligible to participate at the Shelby County Office of Reentry?
Yes. Any potential participant who needs help due to active and pending justice system adjudication is eligible for services offered at the Shelby County Office of Reentry.
Would violation of probation exclude me from eligible services at the Shelby County Office of Reentry?
No. The Shelby County Office of Reentry is focused on providing services to those who need them - regardless of their status in the criminal justice system.
No. You may be a resident of Shelby County, Fayette County, or Tipton County.
If you are currently incarcerated and will be released to Shelby County, contact your Program Administrator for the facility and inquire about the Shelby County Office of Reentry. Yes. Drug screens are given to our clients at initial intake and also randomly, as a condition of continued program enrollment.
Clients will have access to transportation assistance for medical and employment related appointments.
